megan houst (1989 - 2024)

Megan began her yoga journey ten years ago as a supplement to her normal exercise routine. It wasn’t until she took a class with a teacher who introduced her to the yogic philosophy of the Yamas and Niyamas that she truly fell in love with the practice and its meanings. Today, Megan relies primarily on yoga as her main form of physical and mental exercise. The practice also helps Megan manage her anxiety and depression, and, as a result, she recommends yoga to anyone who can benefit from mindful movement and breath work.  Yoga is a feeling of belonging to Megan; it is a time of stillness when she needs calm and a place of energy when she needs to be uplifted.

Megan completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2020. Through the training, Megan learned more about herself, and what she wanted to share with others through the practice of yoga. She hopes to instill confidence and mindfulness into her students both on and off their mats through breath work, meditation, creative flows, and self-love. She is grateful to all her teachers who have gotten her to this point in her journey, and hopes to carry on their teachings.

In 2022, Megan was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer.  She has utilized yoga throughout this journey to balance out the ebbs and flows of a cancer diagnosis, and has learned to listen to her body more intuitively than ever before.

Outside of teaching yoga, Megan is a wife and dog mama to her goldendoodle, Lucy. She is a New Jersey native who has planted roots in Annapolis, and although she misses the Jersey Shore, she is grateful to live in a town that is surrounded by the water. Megan enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, Peloton, and checking things off her bucket list.

Megan transitioned peacefully on May 27, 2024. She is missed greatly.
