Kate took her first yoga class from a fellow volunteer while serving in the Peace Corps in Guatemala. Always a curious yogi, she practiced and studied many styles of yoga. Kate is an RYT-500. She completed her 200-hour certification in 2018 with Lynn Matthews through Anne Arundel Community College and 300-hour certification in 2021 through Asheville Yoga Center.

Kate’s passion is Yin Yoga based in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She practices and studies a fusion of yin yoga, Chinese medicine, yin meditation and qigong with the Summers School of Yin Yoga led by Josh and Terry Summers.

Her yin classes incorporate poses and Yin Pranayama to cultivate an awareness of subtle energy systems to refine suppleness in the body (fascia), Qi (energy) and Spirit. The goal is to strengthen and harmonize overall Qi by increasing hydration and fluidity of the connective tissue.

Kate lives in Annapolis and has one son. She has a Master of Science in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins School of Arts and Sciences and works as a Plant Biotechnologist for the federal government. Her hobbies include biking, skiing, hiking, sailing, tennis, and gardening. She volunteers with Grow Annapolis Community Garden Project and is fluent in Spanish.
